Why You Should Stop Being Scared of Outbound to Raise Your Round

breaking a fundamental fear that doesn't exist + showing off a current campaign result

I had a call yesterday with the founder of a small AI company where we were talking about his current raise.

He mentioned he’d only used a warm network to get his previous raise finished and now wanted to expand this a little bit and for his upcoming seed round.

When I explained our process, track record, and thesis for connecting funds and their mandates to the right founders - he didn’t agree with it.

“It just doesn’t seem like it makes sense… it just feels like you need to know someone on the ground to get in.”

This is actually Myth #3 from our Fundraising Myth-busters document, and one of the common objections we hear to our thesis from founders.

Let’s break down why we don’t agree with this:

As a venture firm, one of their fundamental jobs is to get exposed to good deals. They WANT to meet with good companies & founders. How does it make sense that they wouldn’t want to hear from you, if you directly match their investment thesis?

Too many founders we hear from are too scared to get their deals out there and in front of people.

Here’s a raise we’re currently leading for a client of ours where we’ve generated interest with 111 active funds in the last 30 days.

This has already 2-3x’d the investor pipeline of this client of ours and has sped up the timeline of the raise for them by months - all in under 30 days.

How is this possible?

Because we’re putting the right deals in front of the right people who WANT to see them. It’s that simple.

So if you don’t agree with this approach, and want to get in touch with the right investors exclusively from warm intros and connections, go right ahead.

But our clients are building pipelines with investors, that actually want to meet with them, faster than their competitors can even get on an investor's radar.

That’s our edge for how we make sure they win.

Let me know if you have any questions from this.

Best,

Ryan
