Why "Burning Your TAM" Is Almost Impossible

responding to one of the most popular objections we get

I was having a few sales calls last week with different c-suite leaders of some B2B companies who all hit me with almost the same objection:

“I do not want to burn through my TAM or leave a bad rep about my company by sending outbound messages.”

This is a totally justified fear. I 100% agree that I would not want to do that either with my outbound. But here is why in majority of cases it will never happen:

  1. No one remembers you / you aren’t that important

I would bet that you can not name me the last 3 cold emails you’ve gotten and the names of people / their companies who sent you them.

If a cold email that you send to a prospect gets ignored, odds are they are not going to remember your name or the company you are from.

We all like to think that our messages are so good that everybody we reach out to reads them in full, searches us up online and checks out our LinkedIn profiles.

This is not true. They likely dismiss your message and never think about you again.

  1. If the message you were sending is not spammy, you have nothing to worry about

As long as the message that you send in your outreach is relevant, directed towards the right audience, and doesn’t come across completely spammy it is hard to come up with a reason why someone would resent your company because of it.

“I can’t believe this imbecile seriously offered me 100 free leads and a campaign idea! How dare he email me again!”

I hate throwing around the word “value” but as long as your messages have some sort of value to them, there really shouldn’t be nothing to worry about.

As long as your TAM is over about 6-8k companies, keep sending good outreach messages, keep utilizing touchpoints on multiple channels, and don’t worry about your prospects sending the FBI to come and break your door down because you sent them a lead magnet.

Hope this helped a few of you!
