Outbound Psychology Tip of the day
how / why / when to be DIFFERENT to get more replies
With the popularity of outbound messaging across platforms like email, linkedin, and other social medias, there is a stigma around outbound messages that exist.
As soon as someone sees an email with the subject line “quick question” they automatically assume they’re about to be sold SEO leads “or you don’t pay!!!”
The problem with this as someone who (would like to think) is actually good at outbound is that you automatically get lumped in with these types of people.
To combat this, the biggest thing you can do for you and your campaigns success is to go out of your way to look as DIFFERENT as possible.
Don’t make your message:
Look like a cold email / DM
Sound look a cold email / DM
Be written the same way as a cold email / DM
Extremely brief example:
Let’s say we’re both selling lead gen services. You receive 2 emails from 2 different companies that read the following:
“{name}, we can booked you 10 calls in the first month of campaigns completely on performance! Opposed to a quick call?”
vs
"{name}, I was scrolling LinkedIn late last night and I saw your BDR job posting - looks like outbound might be a priority these next few months?
Since “email” was apart of the job description, was wondering if you’d want a free campaign idea to use in the meantime while the new hire gets ramped up (I know how long it can take haha).
Is this the worst idea you’ve heard today or do you want to give me a go?”
Yes, this is a completely random example. Would this 2nd angle work better than the first? I’d assume so, but I’m not fully sure. But would it 100% stand out against all of the other lead gen services these companies have been offered? 99% yes.
Be different so that your messages are not stigmatized to be lumped in with the same shitty outbound messages your prospects are getting.
So you can stand out in the inbox, have your messages be seen, and convert a shit ton of leads for your offer.
Hope this helps.
