6 Creative Ways to Beat Your Current Outbound
and how to think outside the box to ACTUALLY breakthrough the noise
I got this reply to an outbound message of ours last week and it had me thinking:

There is such a massive arbitrage / use case of smart outbound using proper signals and AI messaging in the right circumstances.
I encourage all of you reading this to think as outside of the box as you can when you’re coming up with outbound ideas talking to your ICP.
One of the best campaigns I’ve run this year was talking about the Toronto Maple Leafs and their playoff struggles (i’m still hurt).
C-suite, founders, and other company leaders are so exhausted seeing the same types of messaging in their inboxes everyday.
Here are a few (semi-corny) ideas I think you could use that would probably beat the current style of outbound you’re running:
1. City-Specific Sports Meltdowns
"Saw your HQ is in Boston - tough end to the Celtics’ season. If only closing sales deals was as easy as landing Porzingis.”
2. Weather-Triggered Emails
"Looks like it’s 104° in Phoenix this week - want to talk about keeping your pipeline cool even in a scorching market?"
We actually ran a campaign behind this angle before and it worked, so can confirm :)
3. Local Festival References
"Happy Stampede Week in Calgary! While I’m sure you’re trying to be rounding up new deals, wondering how you’re focusing on….”
4. Competitor News Tie-In
"Saw [Competitor] just announced a new partnership - bet you’re planning a counter-punch. What do you think on this idea for how to deliver it…"
5. Using Their Own Content Against Them
"Loved your CEO’s LinkedIn post on being ‘customer-obsessed.’ Quick question: would your customers agree with that when it comes to your…"
6. Trending Meme or Pop Culture Reference
I came up with a campaign last year that talked about the solar eclipse that booked me a good chunk of calls. You can be as creative as you want.
Our company thesis right now is just that people are starving for authenticity.
They just want something real.
Whether it’s about building a sales pipeline and selling more of your product, or connecting to the right investor for a fundraise, there are so many new, creative ways to do so that would blow the doors off of your competition.
Let me know what you think about this I’m curious.
Thanks,
Ryan
